Grand United is visiting Woopi

Dear Brethren,

The Committee of Management decided at their last meeting to come together for a fraternal weekend from Friday, 28 April to Sunday, 30 April 2023 at Woopi, otherwise known as Woolgoolga on the north coast of New South Wales.

A relaxed weekend is planned, and we’ve chosen accommodation across the road from the Diggers club at the Woolgoolga Coast Motel. Accommodation is available from $150per night with a discount when you stay two or more nights consecutively (pay $285 instead of $300). Book at www.woolgoolgacoastmotel.com.au/ or by phoning 0401 112 524.

The motel is located at 7 Beach Street, Woolgoolga NSW 2456.

Providing the best whale watching on the Coffs Coast, there is also a brewery and distillery to quench your thirst. I recommend the Hub Café at the surf club, a frequent stop when passing through Woopi.

Once you’ve booked your accommodation, let me know so that we can confirm our activities.

  1. My grandfather, (Alfred) George Mayo, was involved with the Odd Fellows in Sydney.

I am trying to find more about him and his membership of Odd Fellows.

Anything you can tell me would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.

    1. Hi D’Arcy, apologies for not responding earlier. Do you know which Oddfellows order your grandfather was involved with in Sydney – Grand United, Manchester Unity, IOOF etc.?
